The app uses the camera solely to scan and photograph Pokémon trading cards. Card edges and corners are detected on the device, perspective is corrected, and the image is cropped to the card format. Only this cropped JPEG version is stored locally for the collection; PokéCatalog discards the original capture after processing. If local recognition is insufficient, the cropped card image is sent through our proxy server to the Google Gemini API for identification. If you enable “Save scan photo to library,” an additional debug copy is stored in your photo library.
You can explicitly select a single image through Apple's system photo picker and assign it to a physical copy. PokéCatalog receives access only to the selected image, processes it like a camera capture, and stores only the cropped version locally.
Your card collection and the cropped photographs of individual physical copies are stored locally in your device's protected app storage (SwiftData and Application Support). The collection is not transmitted to our servers.
Our proxy server does not store card images and forwards them directly to the Google Gemini API. Google may retain prompts and responses from the API we use for up to 55 days solely for abuse monitoring. According to Google, content submitted through paid API services is not used to train general models. More information: Gemini API – Abuse monitoring.
For card identification, pricing, and Cardex information, the app contacts TCGdex, pokemontcg.io, PokeAPI, and our qshi.de services. External card artwork is not downloaded for display. Technically necessary connection data, such as the IP address, is processed. No names, email addresses, or account data are transmitted.
PokéCatalog is free to download on the Apple App Store. It includes 20 AI scans per calendar month and up to 20 cards in the collection. The optional auto-renewable “PokéCatalog Pro” subscription (monthly or yearly) removes both limits. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, and restorations are handled entirely by Apple StoreKit. We have no access to your payment information.
On first launch, the app creates a random UUID stored in your device's Keychain. It is transmitted to sign proxy requests, prevent abuse, and enforce technical rate limits. Our server stores only a counter for each device ID; these counter files are deleted after no more than two days. The UUID is not linked to an account, advertising, or data brokers.
We do not sell data to third parties.
Local data (collection, cropped card photos, cache, and settings) remains on your device until you delete the corresponding photo, physical copy, or collection, or uninstall the app. Our proxy does not store card images. Rate-limit counters containing the random device ID are deleted after no more than two days. Google's temporary retention periods are described above.
You can delete individual photos or physical copies, delete your entire collection, clear the cache, or uninstall the app at any time. Deleting a copy or the collection also removes the corresponding local card photos. For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy-rights requests, contact us at the email address below.
